"You present magic, but not very well, and you don't know what is wrong. You tell yourself that what you need is a new trick, something very new and amazing and impossible.; but when you get this trick you are just where you were before and you decide that what you need is another new trick, also very amazing and impossible. And you don't know what is wrong."
This verse is taken from Hugard and Braue's Expert Card Technique, a bible to many cardmen.
Great magicians make do with what they have and focuses more in developing it with extraordinary execution, patter and presentation. You may have the latest and coolest color change out there but a good magician can easily win the crowd with a sponge ball routine. Something that you have learned on your first month in magic. Most magicians can show you a hundred or more card tricks. Great ones can show you one. And one is enough to earn your respect.
Something I would want to work on for now. Just like to share with you guys.
